Critical Race Theory: Its Impact on Schools and Society

What is going on in schools today? The hoped outcome is to educate parents who have questions about Critical Race Theory (CRT). Many parents may have done some research on the topic but ended up confused due to the information they found online. The first 50 hits on Google often state that CRT is great and wonderful, claiming it helps race relations. However, that is not the case; it is inflaming race relations in this country. Many people don’t even realize we live in one of the most racially tolerant societies in the world.

The goals of those promoting CRT have not changed since the days of Karl Marx. Marx used class oppression to divide people into rich versus poor, claiming that the rich are taking advantage of the poor and encouraging anger and revolt to create a fair society where everyone gets equal resources.

In America, this class division wasn’t as effective in the long run as they had hoped because America is the “big kahuna.” For them to achieve their ultimate goal, they believed that America, capitalism, and the nuclear family had to go. Since none of those things happened, they began reimagining their approach back in the 70s and turned to race because they knew it was a particularly divisive and powerful issue. Calling someone a racist is a deeply offensive thing to do, and most people will quickly respond, “I am not a racist,” out of fear of being labeled as one. This response led to a retreat and a desire to avoid confrontation, which those promoting CRT capitalized on.

They began to introduce these concepts in schools and various other areas, presenting it as Critical Race Theory. The ideas of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are prevalent in the workplace as well. It’s all part of the same agenda. One tactic they employ is to deny that it is happening, claiming, “It’s not happening; you’re crazy, you’re lying,” and so on. However, when you dig deeper, it becomes evident that these concepts are indeed present. They used to openly label these ideas as Critical Race Theory, but they have since shifted their language and approach.
